Hello world... as this is my first post I'll introduce myself as Sarah and briefly state that my current project is to create an array of mini delta robots to be controlled with various forms of input (like the iphone, wiichuck, exc.)

I finally got a chance to play around with the code and made some progress. Again my goal (for now) is to have the wiichuck thumbstick control the movement of the minature delta robot and the acceleromter inside of the remote controling the color of the RGB LED (which will go on the effector end).

SYN Shop had another good First Friday showing, with a lot of our members stopping by to work in the booth and talk with the public about what we do at SYN Shop.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by.

I had a chance to snap a few pictures here:

In case anyone missed the announcement, the Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire is scheduled for February 2, 2013 and will be held at the Historic 5th Street School in downtown Las Vegas.  It's a great venue (I finally got a tour of the premises this week!) and, depending on how much participation we receive from the maker community, we can grow or shrink the event to fit.

It's time again for the Solder Buildup!

This class has a hard limit of 9 participants, so RSVP now to get in!  There will be a $15/per person charge to cover materials and help fund SynShop.  Fee is refundable if you cancel 24 hours before the event.  All materials will be provided, and you will have 2 kits to take home. (LIMITATION is the number of soldering irons available for student use. These must be good temperature controlled soldering irons.  I will open up more spots if irons become available.)

We've also been fielding a lot of questions on how to solder.

We were completely stunned by the great attendance at the Introduction to Arduino course.  This class picks up where introduction left off. We will be doing the introduction again in September.

We're having a small meetup class to go over some welding and metalworking basics this Sunday at Luis Varela's place this Sunday. We'll probably go over some oxyaccetaline and plasma cutting basics.

Amazing! This class has been packed every time we run it. This class is limited to 25 participants, so RSVP now to get in!

The world is abuzz with credit card sized computers that are inexpensive and easy enough for home hobbyists, artists, and professionals to use.  One such computer is the Arduino, created by a group of Italian researchers and released freely to the world.

Many have asked how to go further with Arduino. This is a build night for Arduino where we will wire a circuit and write code together, step by step.  Students are required to bring a Laptop, Arduino, Data Cable, and Breadboard.  Students who do not bring all will not be able to participate

This class has a hard limit of 20 participants, so RSVP now to get in!

We've been fielding a lot of questions on what are breadboards and how do we use them.

This class has a hard limit of 20 participants, so RSVP now to get in! Students must have a breadboard with rails to sign up for this class. If you don't have one you will not be able to participate. Pololu carries them as does rad shack, frys, and many other places.
