Wow, I haven't posted here in a while, but I wanted to show a few things that I've been working on for the shop and some personal projects.

Yes, the Ideas of March... ;)

Just wanted to throw a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire such an amazing event yesterday!

It was inspiring to see our Maker community come out and participate -- as a Maker showing in a booth, to the volunteers who tirelessly helped out with the setup, the event and the teardown, to our amazing sponsors. Thank you for making things go as smoothly as they did. We definitely had some challenges, but we overcame them.

In case anyone missed the announcement, the Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire is scheduled for February 2, 2013 and will be held at the Historic 5th Street School in downtown Las Vegas.  It's a great venue (I finally got a tour of the premises this week!) and, depending on how much participation we receive from the maker community, we can grow or shrink the event to fit.

Sweltering heat and marshmallow guns made up the first half of the event.  Then we ran out of marshmallow guns...

It was another dizzying night at First Friday. We were set up in the same spot in the Kid's Zone as in July, but this time, they moved the stage so it wasn't quite as loud.

We met with Zachary Delbex of RePurpose America on Saturday and took a tour of his warehouse.  His non-profit takes materials left over from trade shows in Las Vegas and "repurposes" them into other things.  His warehouse is like candyland.  Everywhere you look, there's something cool to play with.  We're looking forward to working with Zach on some projects.

First Friday went really, really well.  It exceeded my expectations and the whole group is already talking about what we need to do to make the booth better for the next event in August.  Come by and help us plan it out next Saturday.
There was a steady stream of people (adults, teens and kids) all night.  Our main crowd probably came through from about 7pm - 9pm.

Another great and productive First Friday Hackathon at Mark J Koch's house. We had a couple of new faces show up and help out on the projects.
